Hi beauty lovers! How is it going? This my first actual blog post... EEEK! I've been told I write pretty well so here goes:
The world of beauty & make up has been going crazy, not just recently but for a while now. It seems every brand has its own type of product that we should all want to buy & use! All I can say is that it is making life kind of hard for the fashion & beauty conscious woman as there is far too much choice on the market, what is a woman to do?!
I am always on the lookout for make up & beauty products that accentuate our own natural skin & beauty from within. I really don't believe in putting a milliondifferent products on our faces & bodies if we really don't have to, unless it truly enhances how we look & feel about ourselves. My blogs will be very informal, impartial & informative, I'm not particularly formal in real life as I'm far too down to earth & love social interaction too much! Please comment below if you feel I can make them more helpful in any way though, as everything can be improved right?
So... I've kinda heard about this phenomenon called 'Micellar water' for a little while now & being a tad fascinated by this so called miracle water that cleanses, tones & removes make up by literally sweeping with a cotton pad. So where did it come from? Paris of course! The city of romantic proposals & the Eiffel Tower, I wouldn't have expected any less really.. However the reason why they needed micellar water was due to the city's famously hard water wreaking havoc with their skin (makes me thankful for London water...), they needed something that would be better for their skin than literally running a tap & washing their face traditionally. Micellar water uses micelle particles to gently remove make up, impurities & other particles from the skin, without actually rubbing at your skin to remove it. Sounds like a fabulous thing, but does it actually work?
I did my research & it appears 'Bioderma' micellar water is the best one to buy as per a big fashion giant (hint, hint, 'Strike a Pose' Madonna anyone...), however they're all supposed to have similar capabilities in terms of they're all marketed as micellar water! I purchased the 'L'oreal Skin Perfection: Micellar water' as it was on offer at my local Waitrose. A bit about my skin, it's combination, I have an oily T zone (darn it!) but it's in generally good health with the occasional pimple or two once a month... I probably have started to wear more make up recently as I love make up & I want to be more creative with how I look & feel as an aspiring make up artist, plus practice makes perfect! So my skin has recently started going through lots of trials of make up application & sadly make up removing. I was getting sick of using make up wipes all the time as you never only need one wipe it always ends up being two or three & then when you wake up you still might find residue on your skin from it which does not help when you're trying to treat your skin as well as you can.
This L'oreal Skin Perfection micellar water was actually a god send, it actually does what it says it's going to do which is remove make up, cleanse & tone your skin in one go. L'oreal have marketed their micellar water as 'A high performance, hypoallergenic cleansing water. Skin feels immediately smoother & more toned with no tight, dry or greasy feeling. Micellar water swiftly dissolves make up & captures pore clogging impurities in just one gentle action causing no stress to the skin.' So how did it do?
I literally did not have to rub my skin once to remove the traces of make up & i barely used 3/4 cotton pads, to fully cleanse my face. In terms of how much product I needed to use on a cotton pad, I did not need to totally saturate the pad just enough so it was moist (hate that word!) to touch & you're good to go. I only needed to sweep the pad over my face & I was surprised as to how much make up it removed. I actually felt a little dirty, thinking that I didn't put this much make up on this morning! It was surprising as I wasn't expecting it to work as most toners do not effectively remove make up without leaving your skin feeling dry, it wasn't the case with this. My skin felt toned, soft & smoother almost immediately, it looked so much better too. My skin felt 'purified' which is a word used on the bottle & my pores looked less visible, leaving my skin feeling so clean & fresh. The L'oreal micellar water has no smell, residue or any kind of heavy substance to it whatsoever, it feels like water but a miracle water! In terms of the packaging, I've taken some pictures & placed them in a lovely collage for you! It is a pretty bottle made of plastic that is sturdy, however be careful when placing your cotton pad over the opening as you need to hold it securely as you may have spillage due to wide shape when holding it.
The big question I guess is would I buy this again... Hell yes I would! At full price this product is £4.99, I picked up a bargain today at £3.32 as now I doubt I can live without it now. This on a cotton pad is so much more effective than using make up wipes of any kind & skin genuinely feels & looks better. I will more than likely try the 'Bioderma' range of micellar water at some point but for now, this is fairly inexpensive, feels amazing on my skin & literally looked better. I would give this product a 4 out of 5 at the moment as I still want to use it for a few more days/weeks before deciding & a half mark was taken away for the spillage I had (which was minimal but I want a good shaped bottle as well!) Oh, I just want it all!
So that's all for now beauts, please comment below & let me know your thoughts on this product & on my blog. I may start doing a video blog soon as all this typing was getting a bit much! Let m know your thoughts on that too!
Till next time, stay beautiful!
